Includes certificates of commendation for service with the Connecticut volunteer regiments in the U.S. service during the Civil War, 1861-1865, issued by the state of Connecticut on July 4, 1867 to: Joseph H. Barnum, Thomas Chadwick, William R. Watkins, Perry P. Wilson, and Ashbel Woodward, surgeon. Also includes certificates issued to Theodore Frederick Jaeger U.S.N., Navel Unit, Cornell University, Dec. 17, 1918; and Roderick Bissell Jones, United State Forces, World War, Feb. 28, 1920. Illustrated with engraved Civil War vignettes, including portraits of General John Sedgewick, General Nathaniel Lyon, and Admiral Andrew Hull Foote. Engravings are by American Bank Note Co., New York.
